DAVID DEALAMAN

about david

Born and raised in the small town of Yarmouth, Maine, I began playing drum set at the age of 10, but my sense of rhythm is something I inherited. Being both the son of a drummer, and the grandson of a drummer, I've always been fascinated with the history of music, and more importantly, the history of drums.

I graduated from Yarmouth High School in 2024, and am currently a student of the prolific RJ Miller at the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine.

I have had plenty of experience playing with groups. From 2021-2025, I helped manage my rock trio, "The Few", which gained a large following, and allowed us to play at popular Maine venues such as The Porthole, Erik's Church, The Brunswick, and many more. As of right now (along with being in school), I am the drummer for The Jim Ciampi Band, led by bandleader/singer/pianist, Jim Ciampi. The JCB does weddings, corporate events, birthdays, New Years parties, and many other events.

Throughout my middle school years I auditioned and was accepted into Maine District 2 Orchestral and Music festivals from grades 6-8. During my time at Yarmouth High School, I auditioned and was accepted into the Maine Jazz Allstate Festival for my four years at YHS. I look back on those times as incredibly formative and critical in my skill and knowledge as a musician, and am extremely fortunate to have experienced them.

While I'm studying business at USM, and studying under RJ Miller, I am involved in a school-run Jazz Combo, which allows me to play in a small group jazz setting with other students while getting instruction from a veteran musician. It is an extremely awarding process, and I highly advise participating in a jazz combo if you have the opportunity.
